On December 19, 2016, Ethiopian Institute of Water Resources (EiWR) candidate, Meseret Dessalegne Zerefa, successfully defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “Synthesis, Characterization and Defluoridation Studies of Aluminum Based Adsorbents”. Along with the Doctoral Examinations Committee, which consisted of Prof. Temesgen Garoma, Dr. Beteley Tekola and Dr. Yonas Chebude, there were around thirty-five students, staff members and friends of Meseret who attended the presentation. Meseret is the third EiWR doctoral candidate to complete her doctoral degree in Water and Health program. Her specialization is in Water and Wastewater Treatment and she is the first female PhD student who graduate from the institute.
In May 2016, Getachew Redai and in November 2016 Minbale Aschale were also successfully defended their doctoral dissertation entitled, “Reliability analysis of roof rainwater harvesting systems in a semi-arid region of Sub-Saharan Africa: Case study of Mekelle, Ethiopia” and “Health Risk Evaluation Associated with Heavy Metals in the Little Akaki River of Addis Ababa” respectively.
The fourth EiWR doctoral candidate, Muluken Azage, is scheduled to defend his doctoral dissertation by 26 January 2017.
